Itinerary Day by Day

Our meeting point will be at a place to be determined in the city of Madrid at approximately 9:00 am. From here the group will travel to Galicia in our private vehicle. Along the way we will make several stops of great interest.

Day: 1

We will visit the beautiful city of Astorga, located in the province of León, which has a rich medieval legacy. Given its location: the crossroads between the Camino de Santiago and the “Vía de la Plata”. The monumental Episcopal Palace, work of GAUDI (architect of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona)

We will have a meal (cocido maragato) in the town of Castrillo de los Polvazares, after that we will continue our trip to Galicia.

The next day our Camino starts. We will travel a total of 155 kilometers over 8 days, walking an average of 19.4 kilometers per day.

Day: 2

O Cebreiro – Triacastela 21 KM.
All the parameters that have made the road a magical place come together in this stone town, Galician portico: The mysterious landscape, the pallozas, the mist that surrounds it even on summer days, the legends...

Ready to start our journey, we will start towards El Alto do Poio, where we will find the highest point. The views of the landscape of a green, cultivated and wooded Galicia, will focus us towards a route with contrasts of meadows and rural paths , we will look for the stamp for our credential and rest,finally the descent until our next stop; the town of Triacastela..

After our first day on the way, we will take the car to transport us to our accommodations and spend the night.

Day: 3

Triacastela – Sarria 19 KM.
From Triacastela there are two routes to get to Sarria: the southern one, longer, visits the famous Benedictine monastery of Samos and progresses along the Oribio River; the other advances further north through San Xil and enters beautiful places populated with oak and chestnut trees.

We will do both. During the day we walk through San Xil, and in the afternoon by car we will visit Samos, one of the oldest monasteries in Spain.

Day: 4

Sarria – Portomarín 22 KM.
Saying goodbye to Sarria, we will see and enjoy the landscapes from the top of the city, forts or castles of Celtic origin. This stage does not disappoint. It offers countless villages of the Concellos of Sarria, Paradela and Portomarín, good examples of Romanesque, paved neighborhood tracks, rural paths, medieval bridges and rustic walkways.

We will see San Nicolás de Portomarín Fortress temple built in the XIII century that belonged to the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem and was rebuilt stone by stone in the current place due to the construction of the Belesar dam.

Day: 5

Portomarín – Palas de Rei 21 KM.
The beginning is promising, today we will make a path with a gentle ascent where we find forests full of eucalyptus trees, the rest goes along modest, provincial and even national roads. However, good examples of Romanesque churches enliven the trip.

Day: 6

Palas de Rei – Melide 14 KM.
Following our path, the itinerary crosses the limits of Lugo to enter A Coruña through the village of O Coto; visit Leboreiro and the traditional pulpería of the city in Melide, where we can rest and eat an appetizing octopus, boiled in large cauldrons in the middle of the road.

Day: 7

Melide – Arzua 15 KM.
We will leave Melide and walk along rural roads, where we will find churches. Distances are no longer measured in kilometers. The goal is so close that we no longer have to worry about physical distances. What now marks time is joy, satisfaction for the next arrival.

Day: 8

Arzúa – O Pedrouzo 19 KM.
We will pass through towns such as Preguntoño, Salceda, Santa Irene with its fountain that in ancient times there was a belief that it had miraculous waters. Then we will arrive to O Pedrouzo.

Day: 9

O Pedrouzo a Santiago 20 KM.
From O Pedrouzo to Compostela, the Capital of the West. The dreamed city, the capital of the end of the world, which at the beginning of the Camino is there, far away, behind mountains, rivers. It is almost within reach, a few steps away.

Congratulations, we finished the Camino a Santiago; In this city we will find a majestic place for its architecture, with a historical warm and young center. In the pilgrim's office, near the Cathedral, they will give us the Compostela once they verify, with the credential stamps, that we have walked the last hundred kilometers.

Day: 10

Santiago de Compostela In the morning we will have a guided tour of Santiago for our group. The visit will focus on the old part of the city where we can have a better understanding of its history and the pilgrimage to Santiago with the help of its monuments, squares and streets. During the tour we will visit the Cathedral, where, in addition to its history and development, the most popular traditions will be explained to us.

This itinerary gives you the opportunity yo walk the last 100 km to Santiago a necessary requirement to obtain the Compostela, the certificate awarded by the church of Santiago at the end of the pilgrimage.

However its not mandatory to walk 100 km in a hurry when participating in this trip with us.

On our trip, you will be accompanied by a support vehicule that will give you a complete peace of mind knowing that we will be with you troughout the entire journey.
